Salt Lake City is well worth of a stopover for a couple of days, it is enjoyable and easygoing. Aside from being the capital of Utah, it is also well known for its recreational spots, national parks and ski resorts.

When you are in Salt Lake City, you will never run out of things to do since there are so many things to explore.  Its scenery is outstanding with the looming Wasatch Range mountain range on the background that stretches about 160 miles (250km) from the edges of the Utah-Idaho border, slicing through central Utah on the western fringes of the USA. In the north-central part of Utah lies the metropolitan Wasatch Front, where 80% of Utah population resides. It is a chain of cities and towns that stretches along the Wasatch Range from Santaquin in the south to Brigham City in the north. Wasatch Front also marks the dividing line between the relatively plush eastern side and the very dry western halves of Northern Utah. For adventure seeking tourists, this area offers great for hiking and cycling during summer and fall seasons and some of the world’s best skiing in winter months.
There are a lot of sights to see around this lovely city. Salt Lake City is the place where the 2002 Olympic Winter Games are held, that is why a lot of skiers flock here.  It is the main destination for ski lovers because they have the greatest snow and the best facilities.  This city offers exciting nightlife and entertainment.  One of the famous tourist spot in Salt Lake City is the Mormon Temple Square.  It is very accessible since it is located in the downtown area where you can see more attractions linked to the Mormon including the Salt Lake Temple.

There are important historic attractions that you can find in Salt Lake City.  The South Temple Street is filled with numerous historic churches including the Cathedral of the Madeleine which is built in a Rhenish Gothic-style.  The South Temple is also the place where you can find elegant mansions such as the Kearns Mansion.  In 1902 it was created as a residence for Thomas Kearns but now it is the governor’s mansion.
One of the foremost and famous destinations of tourists when they visit the Salt Lake City is the Family History Library.  This is the biggest genealogical library in the whole world.  In fact they still have records of people who died more than two billion years ago.  There are a lot of people from all over the world who would come here in order to uncover some information about their ancestors.
