The 2015 Friendliest and Unfriendliest Cities in the U.S. - Conde Nast Traveler

It’s three years and counting, Conde Nast Travelers asked readers to rate a city’s "friendliness" in the Readers’ Digest Awards survey, mainly with deference to where you felt welcome or not.  See here which cities greeted outsiders with open arms and which cities gave guests somewhat of a cold shoulder.

Heres the list:

10. Burlington, Vermont
"A live and let live feeling pervades this New England college town" that's "fun, laid-back, and artsy... winter or summer." "The locally brewed beer is incredible," "fresh meals at farm-to-table restaurants were too many to count," and "fantastic bike paths along Lake Champlain" make this newcomer to the list "feel very much in tune with its natural surroundings." "The place always has something going on and it's super clean!"
